Fly Fishery Review – Norton Fishery
What a wonderful day I had at Norton Fishery, Burt and Julie are very nice people who welcome all levels of fly fishermen / women. This is definately a place I would suggest to the inexperienced fly angler, but I would also equally suggest a visit to the seasoned fly angler. The lake has been dug to cater for all levels, with short casting anglers able to find fish as much as anglers able to get distance and present a dry fly. The onsite facilities are excellent and the fishery is easy to find from the M25. Have alook at the videos and fly fishery review section.
Norton Fishery is a family run business owned by Bert and Julie Norton established in 1996 starting initially from a small caravan consisting of a 5 acre lake with 4 open earth stock ponds now incorporates a barn and a fishing Lodge which includes a tackle/snacks shop, licensed bar, rest areas and inside toilets (including disabled). The recently constructed barn is for the rearing and growing on of the fingerlings.
Situated in Essex in the Roding Valley, north of Passingford Bridge. 3 miles from Theydon Bois, 4½ miles from Epping Town, and 2½ miles from Abridge. Approximately 20 miles from the centre of London, jct. 26 on the M25 and jct. 5 on M11. (Directions).
Set in scenic open pastoral countryside, the seclusion and quiet nature of the fishery makes it an attractive venue for a variety of bird life. It consists of a well stocked (from 2lb upwards) five-acre lake with depths varying from 3.5 – 5.5 meters with deeper ruts throughout down to 8 meters. Fed by spring water, the lake has grass banks featuring 22 casting platforms and a small island.
